So much better!

In today’s chronological Bible reading plan, all the details from the last several days come together for one big “aha” moment! Wow, what a tabernacle! Descriptions like “finely woven, skillfully embroidered, exquisite designs, and skilled craftsmen” were scattered about the reading. And gold, gold, and more gold! In today’s prices, 64.7 million dollars worth of gold was used in this Tabernacle. Impressive for a portable tent!

As I sat and tried imagining what this must have looked like, this verse came to mind.

So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good things that have come. He has entered that greater, more perfect Tabernacle in heaven, which was not made by human hands and is not part of this created world. (Hebrews 9:11, NLT)

In other words, Jesus is so much better! As a believer, you don’t have to go to a Tabernacle and have a priest offer a sacrifice for you. You don’t have to go through an entire system of worship to access God. You can access God because Jesus replaced that old system! The value of this kind of access is certainly worth more than 64 million dollars! A direct relationship with God is priceless!

Reach out to God today! If you are facing trouble, reach out to Jesus. If you are unsure about a decision, reach out to Jesus. If you are anxious or uncertain, reach out to Jesus. Reach out and express to Jesus that you love Him. Talk to Him. He is there for you!

Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands. (Hebrews 8:1–2, NLT)
